A Complete Guide to Füssen, Germany

After visiting Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles, we stayed in Füssen, Germany. Füssen is a great town to base yourself in before or after visiting the Castles, as it is only a 10 minute drive away. Füssen’s medieval Old Town is beautiful and walkable with various attractions and great restaurants. I hope you enjoy this guide to Füssen, Germany!

WHERE TO STAY

We stayed the night at Hotel Sonne. The hotel and our room were nice – coincidentally, we were given the King Ludwig II room! The breakfast that was included was also great. The only drawback to the hotel is that there is no air-conditioning (typical for hotels in small European towns), so we were uncomfortably hot at night in the summer.

WHERE TO EAT

We had a great lunch at Restaurant Ritterstub’n and a wonderful dinner at Madame Plusch. Some other great restaurants in Füssen are Beim Olivenbauer, Gasthof Krone, Fruhlingsgarten, and Bierstube.

Baumkronenweg Ziegelwies

My favourite attraction in Füssen is the Baumkronenweg Ziegelwies, an amazing walkway above the trees that crosses between Germany and Austria. If you continue walking along the main road, you will find the entrance at the Forest Adventure Center Ziegelwies.
