A Romantic Weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake

My husband spent a few days in Niagara-on-the-Lake for our mini-honeymoon and we had such a great time. I highly recommend visiting this charming town for a special getaway. I hope you enjoy my guide to a romantic weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake!

WHERE TO STAY

We stayed at the Pillar and Post Inn & Spa and we loved it! They recognized that we had just got married and made us feel so special. I recommend the dinner package for at least one night. We had a delicious dinner at their restaurant, The Cannery, for almost half the price it would have cost. You can also do a bed & breakfast package – they have a great breakfast buffet!

We loved spending time lounging at the outdoor pool and using the spa facilities. Make sure to book a couple of time slots at the outdoor hot springs pool, which you will have to yourself. This was my favourite part!

Another bonus is that they have a sprawling, beautiful garden area across the street with an outdoor bar and games! We spent time here before and after dinner.

WHAT TO DO

When we weren’t at the hotel spa, we explored the charming town. Take your time wandering Queen Street and then walking along the water. Don’t miss the historic Apothecary, the gardens behind the Charles Inn, all of the great shops, and admiring the beautiful historic homes.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a well-known wine region in Ontario, so visiting some wineries is a must. We visited Ravine Winery and loved it – they have a couple great restaurants as well. Peller Estates Winery and Two Sisters Winery are also great to visit.

We also did a biking wine tour, which was so much fun. We’ve done a bus wine tour in the past and enjoyed biking more. Keep in mind, you will be going to smaller wineries. Our favourite winery that we visited on the tour was Marynissen Winery.

WHERE TO EAT

We had an amazing dinner and breakfast at Treadwell Cuisine, I highly recommend it. Make sure you book well in advance for dinner. For a great lunch, visit Ravine Winery and/or Two Sisters Winery. For a special experience, book a high tea at the historic Prince of Wales Hotel.
