The Niagara Peninsula is one of the most acclaimed grape-growing and wine-making regions in Ontario. In particular, the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has a large concentration of well-known wineries that are visited by people from all over the world.
I love going to Niagara-on-the-Lake and visiting the wineries. However, I am not a huge wine drinker or a wine connoisseur, so I choose which wineries to visit based on their appearance and atmosphere.
I have been to almost every winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. These are my favourites because they are beautiful and photo-worthy! You don’t even have to do a wine tasting, you can just wander around, admire the scenery, and snap some pictures.
Trius Winery
Trius is one of my favourite wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake because it’s the perfect size and has great photo-ops. The Trius Winery Restaurant has an adorable covered entryway with twinkle lights. Make sure to head to the back of the winery for a beautiful view of the building and the vineyard!
Small Talk Vineyards
Small Talk Vineyards is cute, colourful, and quaint. Visiting this boutique winery is a must. They even give wagon ride guided tours through the estate! I love Small Talk Vineyards because it is so different than the other wineries in the area.
Peller Estates Winery
Peller Estates is one of the most popular and well-known wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and for good reason! I personally find it to be the most impressive winery in the area. The estate is very large in scale and quite elegant. If you are visiting in the warmer months, there is plenty of seating at the back of the winery where you can relax and enjoy the vineyard views.
Two Sisters Vineyards
Two Sisters Vineyards is located right next to Peller Estates. This makes it convenient to visit the two wineries on a trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Two Sisters is another beautiful property to explore with or without a glass of wine. Don’t miss the tranquil pond at the back!
Château des Charmes
This winery looks like a charming French castle, which makes sense since Château des Charmes means ‘Castle of Charms.’ The tasting room in Chateau des Charmes is quite beautiful, with lots of windows and light. I also love to sit out back on the Parisian-style outdoor furniture.
Konzelmann Estate Winery
Konzelmann Estate Winery is another very popular winery in the area. It is the only lakefront winery in Niagara and has great views of Lake Ontario. The building looks like a small German castle because the winery actually originated in Germany. Make sure to head to the top of the tower for great views of the vineyard and the lake.
Colaneri Estate Winery
Colaneri Estate is a very interesting winery. I’ve put it on this list because it literally looks like an Italian villa. I’m not crazy about the interior or the grounds but the facade of the building is beautiful and unique to the area.
