Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a photographer’s dream. I have visited twice and the city still amazes me! While there is beauty at every corner in the ancient centre of Rome, I have narrowed down a list of the most photogenic places. I hope you enjoy my guide to 10 Instagrammable spots in Rome!
Giardino degli Aranci
I visited this little garden on my most recent trip to Rome and fell in love. The view down the main path of towering orange trees with St. Peter’s Basilica in the distance in the very centre is unforgettable. There is also a great terrace overlooking Rome. This hidden gem is a must-see and off the beaten path, which allows for better photos.
TIP: Just down the street, take a peek through the Keyhole of the order of Malta for another beautiful view. With the proper camera, this would be another Instagrammable spot!
Piazza del Popolo
I think that the Piazza del Popolo is the most Instagrammable square in Rome. Head to the Terrazza del Pincio for the best view!
Streets of Rome
The easiest photo opportunity in Rome is to simply wander the little cobblestone streets and capture an Instagrammable spot. One of my favourites is the Via Coronari.
The Tiber
Although the Tiber isn’t the prettiest river in the world, a little bit of water goes a long way for an Instagrammable spot. The numerous old bridges, blue-green water and light reflection equal great photo opportunities.
Trastevere
Trastevere is a neighbourhood in Rome that is no longer a hidden gem. Tourists are now drawn to this charming area because it’s off the beaten path, low-key and quaint. Walk around the Basilica of Our Lady for Instagrammable spots.
Trevi Fountain
Of course the famous Trevi Fountain is on my list but it can be tricky to find an Instagrammable angle. The Trevi Fountain is packed with tourists all day long. My favourite angle to capture is from the left side of the fountain.
Pantheon
The Pantheon is my favourite building from Ancient Rome and one of my favourite squares. My favourite light to capture the Pantheon is at sunset and nighttime!
Colosseum
The most famous building in Rome is definitely on my list but again, it’s all about angles. A great spot to capture the Colosseum is just outside of the Colosseo metro station.
Spanish Steps
The Spanish Steps is another well known Instagrammable spot. Head to the church at the top for another photo opportunity.
Piazza Navona
The Piazza Navona is another one of my favourite squares, especially at night. It’s quite a large square so there are lots of opportunities for Instagrammable angles.
